Another find

Found another Orphan Its a Philco Model 66 Baby grand Tombstone. (for $40)
Turned it on as it had replacement caps, It plays well, but needs a general cleaning. Cabinet has two minor flaws. A section of veneer is missing on the front (about the size of a quarter) and some minor nicks (2) on the top.

Found A console (SEARS) Silvertone 9108

.It was in a Antique store.

The cabinet is in bad shape on one side. the paint is so bad its flaked off in a lot of spots,Its a radio-phono combination. AM-FM monaural. Push buttons.

The Model is a 9108. If anyone has a schematic of it from photofacts, I would like to get a emailed copy please !.

I browsed a lot for one on the web, its not in Beitmans or Riders.

It has Loctal tubes (6 ?). Paid $10, I figured the tubes are worth that if they work.

Another project to tackle later. LOL
The turntable even has the needle. I think its a 78 speed. It has a 6 or 8 inch electromagnetic speaker..

Location: St. Louis, MO, USA The Sams index says this is the service info for the Sears 9108, but when opened up, it says model 64 and 65. I hope they're the same because the chassis photos and diagrams are unusually clear and should make things easy for you.

Location: twin falls idaho Why a schematic ?? If its AM-FM then its fairly late stuff . Plug it in & see if it works

Heck yeah, we don't need no stinkin schematics. Nobody understands them chicken scratches anyway. Just shoot the juice to it and look for smoke. That's the best way. Probably just needs a tube or somthin.

Well i finally took the radio out of the Van and started looking at it. The Chassis is in great shape, then I noticed someone replaced the power plug. Started to examine the wiring and there is a power cord that goes from the turntable to a power plug on the radio chassis. Someone had used electrical tape on one of the wires its entire length. The other wire was bare with no insulation. What the heck, musta been desperate to get the thing running. Then I noticed the replaced power plug had one of the blades half melted off of it. Musta been a minor explosion as the guy tried to plug it in the wall socket.

Betcha that why He decided to sell it.

Well looks like I have some work to do.
