Calibration Standards, are referred to for a method setting an ending point for reference, that has been determined to replicate an internationally agreed to Measuremt. Be it a physical, or electrical measurement.

In electronics, Standards are of a reference, that has a tolerance that has been met and is used as a reference point to start from.

There are several types of Standards.

Voltage
Current
Resistance
Capacitance
Inductance

Adding to the list of calibration test equipment:

Frequency Standards
Power load standards

Simply, the definition of a standard is, that after it is put in to use, it must be very stable and is calibrated by a higher Standard, which in turn is referenced to a primary traceable standard, that is maintained by a government metrology lab.
