We went to the hamfair last weekend at the Chehalis fairgrounds.
We arrived early and John was at the front gate as we drove in.
We arrived in our 6x6 military 5 tonner with 1.5 ton trailer.- loaded with stuff.
We gave John a ride in the truck- his first in a vehicle that size.
We backed the trailer and truck into the "barn" where the hamfair was being held and started to unload.
It was a successful hamfair, as far as I can tell. It was definately larger than last year- and it seems to be growing every year.
The barn was full of vendors and we all had a nice time.
John had said that the truck would be the attention getter for the event, and he was sure right!
We are glad we drove it to the event and gave many of the folks a eyeball view of its size. Most had never been close to one of those before. Lots of ONG! That's huge! type comments.
We will most likely drive it down again next year, but diesel was expensive. It cost about $60.00 in fuel to drive to the event and back home, so taking it to ham events will be far and few between.
(Maybe if OARS decides to have another hamfair out at Cabellas...Hint Hint)
there was a BBQ afterwords at John's house after the hamfair for the vendors too.
It was nice and whomever made the BBQ beans: I want that reciepe! The best I have ever eaten, bar none!!! Plenty of burgers, chicken patties, hot dogs, various soft drinks etc.
Thanks to all the CVARS members for a great event.
