I am curious if you have any copies of data or any info on the 635 Tester, or what other particular Jackson shares the same test data I can look for?
   Thanks,
   Kent

I haven't found any sources for manuals or data. That model was produced in 1938 according to RadioMuseum. You might look at other models of that timeframe for data, sometimes it was just cosmetic, as all that Jackson testers had in common, were dynamic testers. There were some design differences such as using D.C. Rather than the normal A.C. signal on grids.
It's going to be a tough one for data. Sorry.

Thanks Cliff,
Just thought I'd ask since you made that nice list of Jackson test equip!,
I have a "new tube supplement" sheet from 1939 that lists about 20 tubes for models 627, 630, 635 and 680. The newer testers (634, 636, etc) weren't even listed yet in the other sections of this sheet....
Perhaps some other info will turn up somewhere, apparently Jackson encouraged customers to upgrade to the 637,etc in the early forties and after the war as besides loktal tubes, no new tube types were ever adapted for use with the older models and the 635 was already obsolete then.

I did run across a picture on
eBay.

I think there is another similar model, with multimeter functions. You may have to look at RadioMuseum.org

Yes, that is the very same tester I have since restored, as you can see in listing there is no data included, was fortunate I had this one page 1939 "Loktal and other modern tubes" sheet from a earlier 435 I'd owned, so I could test a few tubes on it (Namely 6SQ7) to see if it worked.
The multimeter functions had been disconnected by a previous owner, but I believe everything is still there to hook it up again (except the batteries)

What you could do is compare your data settings that you have, then go online and download a couple of other Jackson models, ( PDFs ) Then compare tube settings.

If they are close, which they should be, then your in luck.

Already tried that by looking at a 636 chart with I believe a loktal 7N7 and compared it with the readings on my loktal sheet, a bit different 30 to 38 and especially the last section which has letters instead of numbers...guess I'll have to keep an eye out for pre-1939 Jackson testers for more info

Tell me what each knob is designated as and it's relevant printing indications.

Try and substitute numbers in place of letters.

I cannot see much of anything clearly on the picture I posted

here's a link for Jackson 648 supplement tube data that does list the 7N7 settings.

Here's some better photos above...the tester is difficult to take photos of, because of the glare in chrome panel...I'll scan the list of "loktal tubes" shortly...
The late 30's 634/637 data should be a closer match than the 648 data, which model I believe came out after the war...

wow!  it shows several models, with very close settings to each other.
that would be a very good indication that those model's charts (if you can find them online),
would be comparable. In other words,  all the tube testers use almost exactly the same internal circuitry.
Which makes for using any of the charts comparable (yes some have more settings but ignore those)
2nd row from the bottom left to right are:

A. on/off switch
B. Line control makes the adjustment to center the meter with varying line voltage.
C. the normal /high switch I am not familiar with
D. neon bulb for testing for shorts
--the rest are probably used for the multimeter (I cannot see the writing)

looking at the knobs on the bottom row from left to right are the:

1. filament knob and the numbers indicate which voltage is needed.
2. special test sets up tube connections for correct wiring and probably is used to test for shorts.
3. test button used after settings are correct to see meter reading of good or bad tube.
4. plate is for setting approximated voltage or gain (sensitivity) applied to the plate connection
-----------
PS: I noticed that the meter pointer isn't resting on the first mark on the left. you may need to adjust that.
I hope the meter needle isn't stuck!
Also when you start, set those knobs to the minimum positions (to the extreme left)
When you first set it up ALWAYS DO THE SHORTS TEST FIRST! If it shows any shorts that are not suppose to be, then don't test that tube further, or you may damage the tester.
