Yesterday I turned on my laptop and after trying to get on line, no response. Tried tapping airplane mode key, nope. Went to control panel to disable the slide button refused to stay on. Next step was to download Driver. Didn't solve the issue. Next step was to restore computer to a previous upgrade. Still no luck. I ended up connecting to my Ethernet, which told me my modem was functional. Saw several computer forums including Microsoft and did the methods that worked for others, not one method worked.
I decided I could still use the computer, allbeit without WIFI. I decided to replace the laptop with a newer one the next day.
I was kinda upset because it was an HP with a quad microprocessor. And was only 3 years old.
So this morning I started it up just to make sure there was no change, which proved true.
Then something I thought about as I was going to bed popped back in my mind.
Unplug the power supply and remove the rechargable battery pack.
Reinserted the battery and plugged in the power pack, turned on the Laptop and THE WI-FI WAS WORKING!!!!!
I knew that from my days of computer repairs in the days of Commodores and Sinclair's. Just so you know
