I can't take credit for this hint, as my installer taught it to me.

I had just forked out megabux for new linoleum for my bathroom & kitchen.
When I went to move the washer, dryer, fridge & freezers back in the stopped me & said "Wait a minute".
He went out to his truck and came back with some 2-3' long and about 4-5" wide strips of Formica.
He said, "Now we can put the appliances in place with no floor damage".
One strip went under each leveling foot, from front to back. 2 strips per appliance.
Works like gangbusters, and makes the appliance easy to slide out- to a certain extent.
Best of all, no torn linoleum! (And it helps keep the feet from making dents in the floor too.

Often, scraps can be had for free from the Formica dealers, too. BTW, I like the thicker Formica for the "foot strips".

(This also works great for under console radios too!)
