| OK, folks. I had a hand slap on the forehead moment earlier today while working on a small project. I totally forgot I had this tester in my tool box till I went for something else in it today. Amazing what one can do with this gear if one remembers he has it. I hate it when I do this! Grrrr! Here's what the tester said.............. | It appears to be a press fit SCR or triac. They use similar press fit diodes in alternators |

It has a push-in knurled case for mounting in a heatsink or heavy chassis. If you are lucky, it will be a power bipolar transistor otherwise it's likely be an SCR or TRIAC. Good luck.
73, Rod WB6FBF I agree. You can find out how to test them several ways, with just a meter or setting up a 9 volt battery and a resistor and a light (LED) as an indicator that it has turned on. Google testing SCRs. _________________ I'm a Science Thinker, Radio Tinkerer, and all around good guy. Just ask Me!

| Hi all, Been a tad slack in my participating here lately and trying to remedy that. A couple of years ago, I bought a parts cabinet with some goodies in it. Was going through it yesterday and came upon this item in a small drawer all by itself. Looks like a power transistor in a way. The knurled knob looks like the top could thread off, but if it does, it's stuck real good on there. There is absolutely no sign anywhere of any printing of any kind. I put a 25 cent piece beside it for size comparison. Any guidance is appreciated. Cheers! [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] |
