Cliff, if you are looking for "manuals" - try this site:

You are lucky that it wasn't worse. With the interactive websites of today (data flowing in both directions) they might have taken over your computer. When I make a mistake on a URL and land on a bogus site I try to get out of it right away and then run an anti-malware program. Downloading can be risky when you are not on an official site for the program you want. One time I downloaded the chrome browser from CNET and it came in with a half dozen other programs most of which were malware.

Warning!!!! a Ransomware sight locks up my Computer!
This may be one way to stop it!
I saw a link to FREE Manuals So I clicked on that provided link. Here's what it was

ManualsLib - Makes it easy to find manuals online!

[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
------------

HP User Manuals Download | ManualsLib
NO,DO NOT CLICK ON THESE LINKS
https:%%[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] I added two extra Percents in place of the slashes so it shouldn't work Hopefully

Then I went to the letter H (looking for HP)
Then there were several Icons at the top, one was
HP Laptop

https:%%[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

https:%%[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

That's when My screen locked up and I pushed the mouse button there was no mouse arrow. So I did a Power off button on my computer.

I then powered up again and the screen Fake warning was again displayed with talking say We Found a virus you need to call this number.....

So here's the IMPORTANT PART: Go to your keyboard and Do a Control, Alt, Delete.
Then Task Manager screen appears.
Click on the bottom rectangular square that says: Task Manager
Go to the top of the screen and there should be two Browser Icons (in my case it was the Edge browser).
I used my mouse arrow to select the top one and then went to the button on that task Manager that said END TASK. IT WORKED and I got my Desk Top screen Back!!!!!

I went back to the Edge and click on the 3 small dots that allowed me to select History.

I selected that and I opened my Note Pad then went back to the History and did a copy on each of the three history links in turn (each history shows a small popup screen covering that link and hand-copied the entire pop-up node word for word.
There were 3 separate Histories For my Edge Browser that were on my History. Each Icon I clicked on revealed the links.

So you see the three links that were provided that which I did copy and posted in this forum.

I'm sure that you can do this with other Browsers too!
