I just 'redicovered' a site I'd been looking for,

[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

And what may be a sister site or related site,

[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

The fmscan site has a fascinating database that includes AM/MW stations crossreferenced several ways, and allows you to determine the location, range, and wattage of a station.

This site helped me discover a couple of usefull stations for dial calibration and sensitvity. One station I enjoy is about 15km from me, pumping out an impressive 100 watts of mixed vintage programming that manages somehow to make it here from the other side of Mount Sugarloaf. The station I use to determine radio performance is only 10kw and about 700km away, providing a fairly consistant weak signal in clear weather.

Enjoy!

There is one on the same site on wireless power, however that's just hyperbole as the technology was used in my old electric toothbrush, nothing new there. Of course you know there are Venture Capitalists in the audience and some are not tech savvy and it looks good.

I did set up a forum on Tuberadios at Bill Cahills request called links, that might be an useful idea here also. He wants it available for members only, which is a good way to get new members to register, hold out a carrot as it were.

Hi Cliff,

Finally got around to watching the video.

Interesting concept for sure. I remember playing around with an old Forrest Mimms circuit involving an LED and a 12 inch length of fiber optic cable a number of years ago. Thought it was pretty neat to be transmitting pulses by way of light. Very Happy That was through a cable though and not through the air like this showed. It will be interesting to see how long something like this takes to become actuality.

I might take a look at what other videos they have on there too while I'm at it. You have any others to recommend?

Bob

It's TED.com

Evidently its a organization that promotes individuals that have smarts, They corroborate seminars to promote Ideas, and I'm sure Venture Capitalist's are lurking in the audience.

One Idea was in using LEDs for lighting, and adapting them to transmit data in a room, much like a remote TV control. Same principle but at a much wider bandwidth. Data streaming would flow through the power-grid the same way you get DSL or cable, however it could be used in street-lighting, Hospitals, Public buildings, etc. It would work even in daylight as normal light sends out no data to interfere.
