More "Disadvantaged" loads and Dim Bulbs Empty
PostSubject: More "Disadvantaged" loads and Dim Bulbs   More "Disadvantaged" loads and Dim Bulbs I_icon_minitimeMay 1st 2018, 8:53 pm

As I needed to have a way to change the load ratings on my dim bulb tester, and loads for testing other stuff.
Having a box of different wattage bulbs that I could grab one out of and screw it in WAS a good idea until...... Bulbs + fall of 3' + concrete floor = mess & no more bulbs.

So, I went to the local junk store and got several old ceramic surface mount light bulb fixtures.
 They ran .25-.50 ea.

I then mounted them to a panel and hooked each of then to a switch arrangement where I could parallel them as needed to create the desired load. You can use the same wattage bulb or different ones, as long as you know what wattage they are.

DO NOT USE LED BULBS or FLOURESCENT BULBS!!! No No No

And with a little creative wiring & switching, I can use the setup as a load for a variable selected load dim bulb tester too.

Now with the U.S. shoving LED bulbs down out throats, it would be a good time to buy a stock of spare bulbs before they totally disappear. (Let's see, I need  8.6   7 watt Xmas tree bulbs to replace that 60W bulb I used to be able to get....).
