Re: 73 Magazine.........
Good to find out.
Thank you.
I quit subscribing to 73' when Wayne Green started in making the entire magazine all about packet, ( And his continual diatribes) which I had no interest in.
I must admit to really liking the one issue that featured WN1ECCH, Alfred E Newham on the cover. It was my favorite of any of the issues.
Thank you.

Re: 73 Magazine.........
Not a bad idea Cliff. Sometimes we tend to forget that us radio folks can do other stuff as well.

Re: 73 Magazine.........
thanks for the Info.
We now have a Amateur forum to enjoy.
I think I will add a computer users forum also to allow discussions of a technical nature, and see how that one goes.

73 Magazine.........
Hi all,
While I realize that 73 was a ham radio magazine, it was still a great reader for those who like to home brew radios, test gear, etc., so I hope it's OK to post this here.
I'm pasting this info from the 'Fun With Tubes' forum on Yahoo Groups. This way, if there is an error, it's theirs, not mine. ...................
A fellow over on the Heathkit group has made scans of 73 Magazine
available for download. He posted a go-ahead from the publishing
editor, so I don't think there will be any copyright problems.
To be absolutely sure, one would need to track down all the authors.
73 Magazine was a magazine published from October, 1960 through
September, 2003 and catered to the ham community. While it is
rather ham-centric, it contains a lot of interest to those who
like to have Fun With Tubes, and much that is simply interesting
to look at, like vintage advertisements.
The format is each file being a PKZIP format archive of PDF
files for the associated year, each PDF file being the scan of
one complete issue. Though the PKZIP format shows compression,
it only achieved about 1%, so the main benefit is error checking
and packaging by year.
There is a new Yahoo!Group which has been formed for discussion
and whatnot concerning these files and their content.
Warning: These files are LARGE. Most of them are about 400 megabytes
each. Also be aware that I had download errors on several of them,
and had to download a few times, then piece them together to get a
good download. For example, 1969.zip I downloaded twice, and each
time unzip complained about CRC errors in one of the contained files.
By piecing the two downloads together, I was able to get a good
PKZIP format archive file.
I have verified that the PKZIP files may all be gotten with no
CRC errors, but you will need to test after you download. If any
wishes, I can provide MD5 or SHA1 sums. My guess is that, if
you can handle PKZIP format archives, then the internal CRC
integrity checks provided by your archive manipulation tools
are probably adequate, so no other integrity check is necessary.
Notice: MegaUpload is a free service, but has a few limitations.
The first and most noticeable is that one must enter the links,
and then wait 45 seconds before the download commences, and
automated means to pull them all are thwarted. Also, only one
download may be in progress at any one time. There is also a
per day limit to the amount one can download. The website indicates
that these limitations may be bypassed for a fee. I don't like
fees, so I downloaded them one by one, over a period of more than
a week. As a mitigation to the per day download limit, the
web site supports continuation of aborted downloads, if your
download tool can request them. I used wget, and it successfully
downloaded several files in 36 megabyte pieces after I hit the
limit. Tedious, but it works.
Anyway, here's a list of the links for download from MegaUpload:
