What's the difference between Variable Resistors and potentiometers?
If The component is termed a potentiometer when connections are made to both ends of the resistive track and also connected to a sliding connection; A variable resistor on the other hand uses only one connection to one end of the track and one to the sliding connector. A trimmer is a form of potentiometer, usually miniature in size, that is preset on test and normally not alterable by a user of the equipment. ...
