| Adjust for maximum output "5" Tune aig. gen. to 11.61MC 9 If Signal is not heard retune aig. gen. to 10.7 MC and adjust A17 countercloCkwise to next peak. Adjust for maximum output and recheck for image. Reassembly receiver in cabinet.
Note this alignment is to also adjust the BFO. Notice The IF is 10.7 Mhz and The 11.6 Mhz is 900Khz difference
In some schematics it's 11.1 Mhz so a difference of 400Khz PS. the oscillator tube shows both 10.7 and 11.1 in the schematic _________________ I'm a Science Thinker, Radio Tinkerer, and all around good guy. Just ask Me!

| Please keep in mind: When replacing a metal tube with a glass one , that pin 1 IS grounded for the metal "shield". If you put a metal one in place of a glass tube, often the mfg. used pin 1 as a tie point. Replacing a glass one with a metal version without checking pin one can result in the "factory smoke" leaving some parts. |

| Try this link, your issue is shown about no AM even though the FM mode works. [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]I'll see if I can dig up anything else, but I don't expect to find that previous link, (May have Moved) but using some of the words may help in internet search. I just sent you a copy by PM. _________________ I'm a Science Thinker, Radio Tinkerer, and all around good guy. Just ask Me!

| Yes. The information in that article did solve my problem. Actually, I had found that same article myself some time after posting my question. So my problem has been long ago solved. However this issue with the SX-43 is pretty much unique to the SX-43 and anyone having an SX-43 would be well advised to download and save it. Band 5 on the SX-43 is rather weird and covers a range that today is pretty much unused by hams or anyone else. I won't be surprised if the FCC seeks to re-allocate it soon. |

| Sorry for such a delay to answer.
Here is the same issue described in the following link.
It's in the third to the last paragraph.
Let us know if it works, please.

| I have a Hallicrafters SX-43 with a problem on band 5 only. That band is both AM and FM and the band is dead on AM but works OK on FM. Is there anyone here familiar with the SX-43 who can offer some help?
Thanks. |
