Some regulator tubes have radioactive gas, and some have mercury. I don't know Mercury vapor rectifier tubes would be influenced. But one way is to monitor current and/or voltage at the same time. Interesting cogitation. Please update us on what you do and the results.

I just quit feeding them beans & cabbage Razz

Its neat to take a gassy or flourescing tube and put a magnet by it.
You can change the glow pattern in the tube.

Yeah, I know. Some of us are easily amused. Shocked

I have yet to try this on a gas regulator tube though. Probably would change the conduction characteristics. Hmmm... might be able to vary the output voltage a bit, which might prove useful in some cases. I shall cogitate and ponder on this a bit.
